Rolf Öström holds the leading position in trader consensus for the next chair of Region Gotland’s regional board ahead of the September 13, 2026, elections. As current first vice chair and a Moderate Party figure with oversight of education matters, Öström benefits from the existing S-M coalition dynamics and local party positioning. Meit Fohlin, the sitting Social Democrat chair, trails amid national polling trends favoring her party but faces uncertainty in Gotland-specific outcomes. Multiple other listed candidates sit near even odds or lower, reflecting limited public signals on post-election negotiations or internal selections. Recent Moderate internal discussions in spring 2026 and budget cooperation between the main parties remain key variables that could influence final bloc arrangements and chair selection once votes are tallied.
