The 2026 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B remains tightly contested midway through the campaign, with Criciúma holding a narrow lead but a cluster of clubs separated by just a handful of points after roughly 21 rounds. Juventude, Fortaleza, Operário Ferroviário, Vila Nova, and Novorizontino sit immediately behind in the promotion playoff positions, while sides such as Goiás, Atlético Goianiense, and Sport Recife remain within striking distance on goal difference and recent form. Coaching adjustments, including Fortaleza’s mid-season change, combined with variable home/away splits and the new playoff format for promotion spots, sustain parity and prevent any single contender from pulling clear for second place.
