Sydney Swans enter the Round 23 clash against Essendon as overwhelming favorites due to their dominant 2026 campaign, sitting second on the AFL ladder with a 16-5 record and strong percentage while the Bombers languish near the bottom at 2-19. Sydney’s recent form includes heavy wins and consistent midfield dominance, contrasting sharply with Essendon’s string of large-margin defeats and defensive vulnerabilities. The matchup at the MCG offers Essendon a nominal home advantage, yet trader consensus reflects the substantial gap in current team strength, recent scoring output, and overall momentum. Even with potential late injury concerns or variable conditions, only a highly unusual collapse or extraordinary individual performance would realistically alter the outcome in Essendon’s favor.
