Łukasz Gibała leads the Kraków mayoral market following the May 2026 recall referendum that removed incumbent Aleksander Miszalski after less than two years in office. The snap election scheduled for September 27 has elevated Gibała’s standing, as recent IBRiS polling shows him ahead of a fragmented field that includes Monika Piątkowska (KO/PSL-backed), Michał Drewnicki (PiS), Daria Gosek-Popiołek (Left), and several lower-polling independents. Gibała’s independent local movement and narrow 2024 runoff performance provide name recognition outside major national parties, while the recall outcome has boosted anti-establishment sentiment in the city. Traders reflect this positioning through elevated prices on Gibała relative to rivals whose support remains divided ahead of the first-round vote.
