Hsieh Su-wei and Jelena Ostapenko enter this National Bank Open round-of-16 doubles match as the clear favorites, leveraging Hsieh’s elite net play, variety, and multiple Grand Slam titles alongside Ostapenko’s power and recent Brisbane doubles success. The Norwegian-American pairing of Ulrikke Eikeri and qualifier Quinn Gleason lacks comparable ranking depth or recent high-level results, having exited early in prior hard-court events. On outdoor hard courts in Toronto, the top-seeded duo’s superior experience, head-to-head edge in comparable matchups, and strong recent form create significant barriers for an upset, though late-round fatigue or unforced errors could narrow the gap in a single-elimination setting.
